Yes, it has been close to forever since I came up with the idea to create this blog. I think it's safe to say that it was a complete and total failure. However, I may actually try and get something going this summer when I take my first "roller coaster trip." I've been wanting to do this for a few years now and I'm finally in the situation where I'm able to go...
-I have money
-I already have a job lined up
-I have a little over a week off between the end of final exams and the start of my job
I'm not too sure how many parks I'm going to hit, but I would like to hit at least 3, if not 4. Here's the list
-King's Island
-Holiday World
-Indiana Beach
-Six Flags Great America
One might ask why I'm not including Cedar Point and/or Michigan's Adventure in that group. I've been to both of those parks way too many times. It's sad, but Millennium Force just isn't as fun the 15th time around. Being the engineering nerd that I am, I know exactly what to expect.
I'll be taking this trip either alone or with one other person, staying with friends along the way. The only tough part will be the Indiana area. I've got friends in Columbus and Chicago, but nowhere in between. Perhaps I'll just spend one night in my car at a rest stop.
Yea, so I came across my blogger account by some random chance tonight. I thought I'd waste a little more time and write an entry. Now it's time for bed. Three classes tomorrow then it's the weekend!

CoasterRadio.com
Several years ago, five friends came together and made one of the greatest podcasts I have ever listened to.
The CoasterRadio.com podcast was the first roller coaster podcast. To this day, I still believe it was the best. A couple of years ago, the group decided to end the podcast. However the website remains.
The podcast was made by people who had lots of media and broadcasting experience. It sounds like a real radio show. There's also a lot of comic relief that adds to the listening experience.
I can't even explin how much I enjoy this podcast. I highly recommend that you go to CoasterRadio.com and listen to the podcasts in the archive. They're all great. They don't strictly talk about current events in the industry, making them enjoyable years after they were recorded.

What's in a name?
Air Time is back! Well, it was barely here in the first place. I've decided to try and get things going again. I'm going to aim for one update a week. Stay tuned!

For those who don't know yet, the 'defunct' Hard Rock Park has been sold for $25 million.
CNBC Article
The park plans to honor season passes from last year, lower gate prices, and add a few more rides.
From what the new owners are planning on doing, I think they may actually be on the right track. It will be very interesting to see what happens this summer. Hopefully they'll advertise a lot more.
Myrtle Beach is a huge tourist area, but I doubt whether it will be able to support such a 'big name' park. With the Hard Rock name, the park automatically sounds expensive. The Hard Rock Cafe is known for being a fun, clean, quality place. As a result, I think people almost expect HRP to be a Busch-caliber park.
This brings me to my point:
Does the 'Hard Rock' label help or hurt the park?

In my opinion, it puts the park at a disadvantage. It raises the expectations of visitors. I have never visited the park, but I have been to several Hard Rock Cafe restaurants. From what I can see from pictures and reviews of the park, the quality levels don't match up. HRP is by no means at the same level of Busch Gardens, Sea World, Universal, and Disney. However, I feel people expect it to be.
Would people have the same expectations if the park didn't have such a recognizable name? I don't think so. People wouldn't be as disappointed when they find that the park isn't mind-blowing in terms of what it has to offer.
I never thought a name could hurt a business as much as it did for HRP.

Welcome to Air Time!
This is the first ever blog post for Air Time!
For many years I have been a coaster enthusiast in the shadows. I have been a member of several different roller coaster fansites and listened to countless amusement park podcasts. I have turned into what many call a roller coaster encyclopedia.
This blog is the result of several failed attempts at making a roller coaster website. Over the last two years, I have made three seperate attempts to get my own roller coaster website rolling. I planned to post pictures of my park visits and make the occasional video showcasing a park's coasters. Unfortunately, my busy schedule has prevented such a website from becoming a reality.
Within my roller coaster site plans, I wanted to have a blog. Air Time is pretty much what that blog was supposed to be.
So, lets cut to the chase...what will you find on AT?
The answer: Anything Amusement Parks
I will be covering everything from everywhere. Expect to read my opinions in regards to the latest news in the industry as well as random pictures of rides I find 'cool' or unique.
It's getting late and I have class tomorrow, so I'll leave you with this:
Vliegende Hollander
This is a very unique coaster with a splashdown into a natural-looking body of water. It is a one-of-a-kind ride. I'm looking forward to what KumbaK coasters comes up with next.
